* Mick Thomas has been a big influence on my writing over the years and I have enjoyed innumerable shows performed by him, in solo mode or band mode with Weddings Parties Anything and The Sure Thing. Damn brilliant songwriter and fantastic performer whom, if you haven't had the pleasure of hearing or seeing, I would highly recommend doing so. http://www.mickthomas.com/
* This is the site of Melbourne writer alicia sometimes. http://www.aliciasometimes.com She's a great writer and excellent spoken word performer. And does a helluva lot for other spoken word artists and writers in Australia, organising events and radio programs and a whole heap of stuff.
* I cannot adequately express how much I love this site, http://www.derelictlondon.com ... Having lived in London for a couple of years from 1995 to 1997, and generally being influenced in my younger days by London punk music, particularly the Clash and later the Jam, and also later by the songs of Billy Bragg, I am deeply affected by some of these images. Part of me doesn't actually understand why they affect me so much ... another part of me does: something to do with a sense of "the wasteland" I saw, and felt within me, at times whilst living in London. I feel a sense of real loss when looking at some of these photos from cold old London town, the layers of life in the city just building on top of each other, the derelict dreams of pub patrons or town planners now left to rot away while the grime of London envelops them. Or something like that.
